Jesper Bodilsen: double bass
Morten Lund: drums
Hungarian guitar master Ferenc Snétberger and his internationally acclaimed Danish fellow musicians Jesper Bodilsen and Morten Lund first met in Copenhagen in September 2021, and it was musical
love and understanding at first sight. Besides playing old and new tunes of Snétberger’s and some original compositions by his new companions, the three ECM recording artists enjoy improvising
together, playing the role of leader in turn. Or rather, there is no leader; it is Music itself that pushes and leads the three instruments wherever and however It feels like going. Their
performing is a masterclass in attention to detail and in group interaction. And in telepathy. The trio seamlessly alternate and intertwine between individual shining and collective band sound.
Ferenc Snétberger (H, D), internationally hailed as one of the few genuinely distinctive voices on contemporary guitar, has developed his own unique warm and melodic style of classical and
chamber jazz music, informed by native gypsy tunes, flamenco guitar techniques, samba rhythms and by revered J.S. Bach, always dialoguing between today and yesterday.
Jesper Bodilsen (DK), long-time bassist of legendary drummer Ed Thigpen, has toured the world since the 90’s. Winner of the Django d'Or Prize as “Performer of the Year” in 2004, he has been
praised by critics and audiences for his warm lyrical sound, great dexterity, virtually faultless intonation and his calm aura even in the midst of volcanic eruptions.
Morten Lund (DK), winner of the prestigious Ben Webster Award in 2006, represents a marvellous cornucopia of musical ideas and is one of Europe’s most experienced and in demand jazz and session
drummers for his creative and always swinging and musical melodic drumming. He features on more than 250 recordings, and his fruitful rhythm section bond with Bodilsen (also in Italian star
pianist Stefano Bollani’s Danish Trio) has lasted for 30 years.
