Olivia Trummer, born into a musicians’ family in Stuttgart (D), started studying classical piano at the age of four and soon discovered her passion for improvising and composing. She graduated
with distinction in both jazz piano and classical piano at the University of Music in Stuttgart and also pursued a Master's degree at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City. Her years in
NY and her deep roots in classical music continue to be essential sources of inspiration in her music making.
Olivia Trummer has been internationally acclaimed by critics and audiences for her piano playing and composing. In recent years, also for her singing and song writing, which have now become an essential role in her solo and trio projects in particular, both on stage and in the studio. After eight albums with original compositions ranging from classical to jazz music, Olivia will debut on Warner Music label in March 2022 with her new trio recording For You - a series of new songs of hers on integrity and courage, where she is joined by the outstanding Italian musicians Rosario Bonaccorso (db) and Nicola Angelucci (dr) and special star guests Kurt Rosenwinkel (g) and Fabrizio Bosso (tp).
Olivia Trummer has won innumerable grants and awards (more recently, the prestigious Jazz Award Baden-Württemberg) and has enraptured international audiences both in jazz and classical music contexts at most important venues (such as Carnegie Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin) and at 1st class festivals (such as EFG London Jazz Festival or Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele).
Olivia Trummer as a bandleader has performed her music all over Europe and in the USA. Numerous and manifold are also her collaborations with orchestras, bands and single fellow musicians. Since 2016 she has toured as singer and pianist with Kurt Rosenwinkel’s „Caipi“ project, performing at top venues and festivals in North America and Asia.
Olivia Trummer is currently performing several projects of hers, primarily her solo programme for piano & vocals consisting of original tunes and very own arrangements of classical music, and in trio with Rosario Bonaccorso and Nicola Angelucci.
She loves performing her melodic originals and fantastically interplaying in duo with (her trio drummer) Angelucci, but also, closer to her classical roots, in duo with Swiss vibraphonist Jean-Lou Treboux, a genre-crossing project that refreshingly re-imagines music by revered J.S. Bach.
